Provider Role

The Provider Role Mini Directory includes the user-defined Provider Roles and is a required field on the Provider Tab in a Provider Folder. Provider Roles help to categorize Providers by the type of service they provide. The directory provides a standard list of provider roles for consistency in data entry and is used when defining user-defined provider screens, reporting on provider information, or merging provider-related documents or forms. The Provider Role Mini Directory includes the following two columns of information for each directory item:  Role and Active.

Adding New Items

To add items to the Provider Role Mini Directory,

  1. Select the Provider Role Mini Directory in the Directory Pane on the left side of the Directory Editor window.
  2. Click on the Click to add row in the Items Pane on the right side of the window to open a new row for data entry.
  3. Enter a Provider Role, up to 35 characters, in the Role column. The Provider Role field is required and must be unique in order to save a new item and will display a red validation border and icon until a valid Role is entered. Mouse over the validation icon to display the reason for the error.
  4. The Active column is selected by default for a new item. Only Active items are displayed in the Provider Role dropdown listing for selection on the Provider tab.
  5. Click on the Save button to save changes.

To determine appropriate provider roles, consider the headings in a business directory. Determine which roles would be helpful for grouping, searching, reporting and accessing the providers in the future.
